Day 12 Task: Clean and Organize Your Pantry Shelves
After tossing, organizing, and donating my pantry goods, it was time to clean the cupboards and organize everything. This was the easiest and most satisfying assignment of The Kitchn Cure so far. I don’t have a ton of space in my cupboards, so it was a no-brainer on how to organize all the pantry goods in the kitchen. Remind me, why didn’t I do this earlier?
Read on for very satisfying before and after shots of my pantry.
The first thing I did was take everything out of the three cupboards (again) and clean everything with soap and water. Besides a minor balsamic vinegar spill, it wasn’t too bad.
When I cleaning out my pantry goods, I organized everything into a few different categories: baking, vinegars and oils, grains, seeds and nuts, unopened sauces and honey, and finally drinks (mostly tea). I kept this organization up in my cupboards so things were more accessible and I knew exactly what was in there at all times.
Here are the before and after photos of each cupboard – what a difference!
Cupboard #1: The Baking Zone
Cupboard #2: Vinegar and Oil
Cupboard #3: Everything Else
1st level: grains, seeds, peanut butter; 2nd level: canned goods, condiments, honey; 3rd level: drinks.
