The Correct Way to Load Dishes for Every Major Dishwasher Brand

Do you have a dishwasher loading strategy? Well, I’ve got news for you: every dishwasher has its own best practices for loading, which are laid out in the appliance manual.

Time to find out if you’re doing it right.

How do I know this? Because one man, Joe Clark, pulled the loading instructions and accompanying illustrations from every major dishwasher brand’s online manual, and uploaded them to Flickr. Yes, indeed.

As he wrote on his personal blog, Joe Clark downloaded one or more instruction manuals from “essentially every dishwasher manufacturer in existence (even Haier), extracted just the pages or parts thereof that illustrate how to load the dishwasher, and assembled them on Flickr.”

If you skipped over that part of the manual when you were installing your dishwasher, now’s your chance to make it right! The illustrations show not only what to load where, but how to do it so you get the most efficient use of space for that particular dishwasher model. (The manual for the GE GSD6900, for example, details how to load 10 vs 12 place settings.)

Wow! We’re officially filing this in our “things we didn’t know we needed to know” file. Head over to the Flickr page and then tell us: did you learn anything new?
