FloorMate Cordless from Hoover
Item: Hoover FloorMate Cordless Hard Floor Cleaner
Overall Impression: Sometimes food falls to the ground, or we spill a drink, or we wear our outdoor shoes on while we cook — it all adds up to a messy floor. We might bust out the mop and bucket to take care of small messes, but when you really want to clean the floor, you need something else.We don’t often think about our floors when we talk about cleaning the kitchen, but they shouldn’t be overlooked.
While the Hoover FloorMate Cordless Hard Floor Cleaner is good for anywhere in the house, I found it to be especially useful in the kitchen. With a dual-tank system to separate clean and dirty water, and easy-to-understand cleaning modes, the FloorMate will guide you on your quest to really clean your kitchen floor.

Favorite details: This is very intuitive floor cleaner. I love that it keeps the dirty water separate from the clean water, it’s cordless, the battery is easy to charge, and it comes with its own cleaning solution.
I also love how one of the settings lets you wash while pushing the cleaner forward, and dry while pulling it back.
Potential problems: This takes up a little more space than a mop or Swiffer in your closet, and is obviously going to be heavier. It’s also not a quick-moving machine, so it does take a little time to clean your floors. It’s for sealed hard floors only.
Who would love this: Anyone who is sick of a smelly mop or a Swiffer that doesn’t quite get the job done, and wants ultra-clean floors. It’s especially good if you’re a messy cook like me.
The FloorMate tackles my kitchen floors
My Review of the Hoover FloorMate Cordless Hard Floor Cleaner
Operating the FloorMate
Before you wash the floors, you have to vacuum or sweep a little. After that I just turned the knob to Wash & Dry and went at it in my kitchen. On this setting you push the FloorMate to wash the floors and pull to dry the floors. You have the option to add more solution if needed with a trigger on the handle.
On the Wash & Dry setting, I found the cleaner was a little slow-moving and had some problems making tight turns. That being said, my kitchen floors have never looked cleaner. It got all the the dirt up off the floor, including the hard-to-reach areas. It was easy to move around because it was cordless, and it didn’t feel heavy when operating.
The Scrub setting doesn’t have any suction like the Wash & Dry setting, so the FloorMate was able to move around a lot faster. When I was trying to get something sticky off the floor, I found this mode especially helpful.
It should also be noted that the FloorMate isn’t louder or quieter than a regular vacuum.
Cleaning the FloorMate
After you’re done cleaning your floors, the FloorMate is easy to clean. You just take out the dirty tank, dump it into the toilet or the sink, and wash the tank throughly before drying. The nozzle is also easily removed for cleaning.
Dirt picked up from FloorMate
Yikes! Look at all that dirt that was on my floors! While the dirty tank above might not look pretty, it sure did leave my kitchen floors super clean and sparkly. It didn’t matter how many times I tried to mop or use a Swiffer, I was never able to get this much dirt off the floor.
I was so impressed with how easy it was for the FloorMate to wash the floors and then dry them with ease. No more gross floors in the kitchen or the rest of my home.
